LIVERPOOL READY TO TRIGGER BUY OPTION IN OZAN KABAK’S CONTRACT

An update on Liverpool’s plans for Ozan Kabak has emerged online recently.

Kabak’s Liverpool stint

Liverpool would of course sign Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke during the winter window.

The Reds have had a nightmare 2020/21 when it comes to injuries, with all of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip sidelined with long-term issues.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson would drop deeper to help with the Reds’ centre-back woes. However, both have also had injuries of their own, with Henderson still out of action at present.

So, it wasn’t too much of a shock to see both Kabak and Ben Davies brought in earlier this year.

Davies has not really featured since his move to Anfield. But Kabak has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s most consistent starters of late.

Granted, it hasn’t all been plain sailing since he joined Liverpool. But the Turkish international has now formed a fairly decent partnership with Natt Phillips.

And in his last two league starts before Saturday, Kabak played a key role in Liverpool keeping clean sheets vs Wolves and Arsenal.

Liverpool looking to sign Kabak permanently

And now, an update on Kabak’s future in England has been forthcoming online.

When Kabak joined Liverpool on loan, it was reported that the Reds had an option to buy for an initial fee of £18m, with the fee potential rising to £26.5m.

Now, according to 90min, Liverpool are ready to trigger their buy option in Kabak’s loan contract after being impressed with his development in recent months.

The report goes on to claim that alongside Kabak, Liverpool are on the lookout for a second centre-back to bolster their defence next season.
